Welcome to the WERU TVC BUILDING AND CIVIL ENGINEERING DEP’T. As the Head of the Building and Civil Engineering Department, it brings me great pleasure to reach out to the public and share the exciting opportunities that await you in our department

The department has a rich history and plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of construction and infrastructure development In the world we live today.

Since it’s inception, the department has been a spearheading in providing quality education and training in fields of construction

Over the years, we have produced skilled professionals who have contributed significantly to the growth and development of the construction industry KENYA.

Our department is committed to stay abreast of latest advancements in construction industry trends. We aim to equip our trainees with the skills and expertise needed to excell in dynamic and rewarding fields of building.

TRAINING STAFF

We have a total of 12 Trainers and 1 Technician  in the department who execute training to our trainees. They are experts in their various respective field bringing a wealth knowledge and experience in the institution. They are not only committed to imparting theoretical knowledge but also nurturing practical skills.

Our hands on training has ensured that our graduates acquire the necessary skills and competencies as required by the industry leading to their absorption in the job market.

Our fully equipped workshops provide students with hands on experience, preparing them to tackle real world challenges professionally with confidence.

COURSES OFFERED

We offer various programmes related to Building and civil engineering areas that fits individuals academic potential. We have programmes in DIPLOMA, CRAFT CERTIFICATE COURSES and CBET COURSES.

We also strive to improve on income generating activities through production of Masonry Units (blocks,paving slabs) and Carpentry Products.

ASSESSMENT/ EXAMINATION

Internal examination are administered in form of Assignments, Continuous Assessment Test and End of Term /Stage examination. This is conducted to promote the health of the trainee, develop their academic potential as they prepare for the external examinations at the end of their stages .

All our programmes are externally examined by the following recognized examination bodies.

  • KNEC – Kenya National Examination Council
  • CDACC – Curriculum Development, Assessment & Certification Council

Attachment

The students go for industrial attachment in the most related fields of their trade for at least 330hrs.

During the attachment term, the trainee is exposed to the real world of work and applies the knowledge and skills attained in the college. The trainee is assessed and graded during the industrial attachment.
